The Light That Nobody Looks Up To

The Light That Nobody Looks Up To

I don’t know why this picture hit me the way it did.
Maybe because that streetlight feels a little too familiar.

It’s standing there… surrounded by branches hidden, almost choked.
But still glowing. Still doing its job.
Not loudly, not proudly just silently.

People walk under it every night.
Some laugh, some fight, some wipe their tears, some wait for someone who never shows up.
And that light is always there for all of them.

But no one ever looks up.

No one thinks, “How long has it been standing there?”
“How tired must it be?”
“Does it ever want to stop?”

Funny how some things are important only when they disappear.

Little like people too, right?
The ones who show up.
The ones who check on others first.
The ones who listen more than they speak.
The ones who stay even when they shouldn’t.

They don’t get appreciation. They get used to being background.

When they shine nobody notices.
When they break suddenly everybody cares.

I think the light knows it’s being ignored.
And still… it glows.
Not because someone deserves it, but because that’s just its nature.

And some hearts are built like that.
They keep giving, even when nobody claps.
They keep showing up, even when nobody asks how they’re doing.
They keep loving, even when nobody loves them back the same way.

It looks like strength from the outside.
But inside… it’s exhausting.

Maybe we don’t want attention.
Maybe we just want to be seen once.
Just once without burning out first.

If you’ve ever felt like that light I get it.
I really do.

And maybe the world won’t change overnight.
Maybe people will still take the quiet ones for granted.

But you’re not invisible.
You’re just constant.
And people always forget constants until they’re gone.

It remembers the darkness but forget who keep it away.
